Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What are your application requirements?
Each nanny should have at least two years of verifiable experience. We require at least three excellent references from previous employers, or other people who can vouch for your credentials. The profiles with picture attached will be online faster than those without. Pictures should be professional looking headshots.
Reading and speaking English fluently are requirements. Be prepared to read Dr. Seuss!
Do I need to interview with Georgetown Nanny?
Yes. All our nannies are required to be pre-screened by qualified Georgetown Nanny personnel before being allowed to interview for jobs. We will need copies of your Identification cards and proof eligibility to work in the United States.
What is the interview like?
The purpose of the interview is for us to get to know you better and to determine if you are a good fit for our clientele. The face-to-face interview will also assess your ability to speak, read and write in English. We will need to see your current ID's, and documentatation proving your eligibility to work in the US. Dress to impress as we may choose to tape your video profile and add it to the website.
Do I have to pay Georgetown Nanny anything?
No. There are no fees associated with getting a job. You may elect to pay for training classes that are offered on a voluntary basis.
What kind of placements do you make?
We make full-time, part-time, short-term/seasonal placements. We have an elite group of staff nannies who only work oncall corporate or special family placements. We also maintain a list of on-demand caregivers for those nannies who are interested in working extra hours.
Many of our clients are children with various disabilities. Please let us know if you want to become a specialist in autism or learn how to help children with developmental delays.
Do you offer training of any kind?
Absolutely! All our nannies are required to be CPR and First Aid certified, and we will provide additional training if needed. In addition, we offer numerous classes that are both fun and practical such as:
- Understanding the Autistic Child
- Understanding ADD and ADHD
- Understanding Developmental Delay
- Games to Encourage Speech
- Prep for Preschool
- Creative Play
- Cooking with Kids
- Behavior Principles and Strategies
- Dealing with Seizures
What if I don't like the placement I've chosen?
There are many reasons that a placement may not work out. At Georgetown Nanny, we pride ourselves on finding the best match for both our families
and our nannies, and we go to great lengths to fully understand the needs and personalities of all parties to minimize the likelihood of a bad match. However, things happen. In the unlikely event that a placement doesn't work out, we will work with everyone involved to find a more suitable arrangement.
Do you require background checks?
Definitely. All nannies are subjected to a rigorous background investigation by a third-party agency.
How can I get in touch with you?
